Today’s consumers are reaching for more personalized and ubiquitous content experiences, and it’s become clear that this is a challenge for service providers of all sizes.
Our 2014 Consumer Entertainment Index shed some light on the pervasiveness of these trends:
- 93% watch Broadcast TV each week; 80% watch 1-5 hours a week
- Binge-viewing is at an all-time high, with 74% binging
- 70% of consumers use an online subscription or streaming service at least once a week; however, 60% encounter problems with it
And at NCTC, ARRIS is sharing expertise and solutions targeted to our Tier 2 and Tier 3 providers to address this new direction in content delivery.
In the last week, we collaborated with Wurl, Inc. to launch ARRIS Market—a new open platform for cable operators to combine over-the-top (OTT) content with traditional programming on ARRIS set-tops. We announced new agreements with Cable TV of East Alabama and Comporium to deploy our CCAP-capable E6000 Converged Edge Router, future-proofing their networks to support the evolution in data, video, and voice experiences. And we expanded on last year’s agreement with Sling Media, bringing Service Electric and Comporium onto the ARRIS MS4000 platform, powered by Sling technology, to support each provider’s Whole Home Solution customers.
